Wouldn't surprise me at all, Porsche tends to be predictable when it comes to road car production.

Jack628 08-24-2009 09:38 PM

I am guessing , ceramics std, 540hp, Center lock RS styles like the above pic, and hopefully a new factory aero kit option

turbotronic 08-24-2009 09:43 PM

How much would the price difference be between a standard Turbo and a Turbo S?

Jack628 08-24-2009 09:44 PM

I bet it's at least 15k more

GrayTT 08-25-2009 03:04 AM

Put me down on the waiting list :yup:

"The JC" 08-25-2009 03:16 AM

^I think I'd rather have a GT2 though, but then again you'd need massive testicles to DD one of those.

AudiRS 08-25-2009 03:48 AM

No way an S would have more power than a GT2. Either the latter will get a power increase at the same time or the S would have slightly less than 530hp.

I actually have a friend the uses the GT2 as a DD... but I think his testis are shrinking coz he is talking about get'n another car as a DD

Back to the ttS... if the difference between the tt and ttS is similar to that of the 996 then its not worth it BUT if it is comparable to the variation achieved between the 993t and the 993tS then I think one should go for it...

MeanMachine 08-25-2009 07:00 AM

The Turbo has 500hp now, GT2 530 .......Turbo S 515 hp possibly ?

brnsrgn 08-25-2009 07:52 AM

they key will be which engine??? GT1 or new pseudo dry sump.

Eric (Plug Guy) 08-25-2009 12:04 PM

Yes, the turbo order guide for '10 so far indicates dry sump w/external tank....but no one's talking. Could be a typo, or could be truth.

Kevin2772 08-25-2009 03:34 PM

Didnt the 996 Turbo S get the same HP as the 996 GT2?

Luis 08-25-2009 04:30 PM

The 996 Turbo S got 450 hp when it came out, (The 02-03 996 GT2 had 456) and the 04-05 996 GT2 had 483hp.

brnsrgn 08-25-2009 04:44 PM

10 TT does not have gt1 split block dry sump engine. Big change. I assume the S will also be based on the new block.

turbotronic 08-25-2009 07:56 PM

If I had to guess, the new TT S will have 530hp and the facelifted GT2 possibly 550hp.

DJ 08-26-2009 06:39 PM

Eric, featured on autoblog bro :)

Too much to multi quote... But if I were guessing, I'd say nothing is spot on so far...

No, Turbo S was 444hp (440? 445?) GT2 was 456. The X50 had 450 and had same running gear as GT2 if I recall correctly, I do not believe the Turbo S did which is why X50>Turbo S imo

Q8_TwinTurbo 08-27-2009 02:05 AM

The new Porsche 911 Turbo aka (997.2 TT) will have the new DFI 3.8 Liter Engine (Direct Fuel Injection) producing 500 HP, Center-Lock Wheels, A PDK (Porsche Double Clutch Transmision) option. That's what i managed to gather up. I doubt Porsche will change anything regarding the that car until 2012 i guess. I might be wrong.

Yup, that's what I remembered as well...the X50 package was about as rare as the S, and it was more desirable.

I'm guessing (with no education backing it) that this will be 515-525 hp...would be interesting to see a S Cabriolet...I'd put that on the shopping list...

X50 Ftw :d

DJ 08-27-2009 12:05 PM

From a good source :
  • DFI
  • 530-540hp
  • PDK
  • Early summer launch

Eric (Plug Guy) 08-27-2009 02:04 PM

I'm hearing there are some fall builds for the '10 Turbo (not S), but Porsche will not release the coupe until January. Anyone else hearing this?

Speculate then: if the Turbo coupe shows in January, the Cab would be right behind, then the S in the spring. Would that be the end for the next 12-15 months, while a new design is in the works...or would you expect this iteration to carry for '10 and '11?

X50 and Turbo S packages were identical. Only the name changed.

Not true my friend:friends:
I can most likely furnish the X50 sticker for you, and may be able to get a Turbo S sticker.

I can also talk to a tech tomorrow for the differences, but as I recall the turbos and CACs were different at the least.

I am 100% positive X50 horsepower was 450 and Turbo S was in the 440 range. I do believe it was 444 or 445.

Really? If I recall correctly, X50 hp was 450, S was 444 in the US. I believe the X50 package was unveiled in Europe as the Turbo S though. But it has been a few years since I looked at the specifications on a new 996TT, so I could have my facts mixed up - my mistake if that's the case.

X50 was designated as M96/70E...444 HP. From my 02 996TT/X50 manual, page 206:

Hmm, I will have to check the X50 sticker and manual when I can - I am referring to an 03 car, for what it's worth. Not sure if it's different than 02? I could (and often am) wrong though :dizzy:
If that's the case I apologize!
