My friend ordered his car with the Hi-Fi sound system and after getting his car he immediately regretted it, he said it was a useless option and a waste of money. I never got into detail with him about why but if your interest I could ask him.

I was under the assumption the front lift was standard on all cars but if not I would think this is one of the most important options since it saves your front end from scraping on speed bumps, driveways etc

the CF bits are all purely up to opinion and aesthetical appeal, I would personally get the CF diffuser and wings only

I agree with what Stephan is saying. I would forget the HiFi but definitely go for the front lift kit. I have no clue about ASF lighting system and the CF is purely personal perference.

Front lift is a good idea, but not a deal breaker. The front isn't too low. Skip the sound system and the ASF is a must in my opinion.

The Hi-Fi is a total waste it sounds awful. CF if you like it. If you encounter a lot of steep inclines look for one w the lift.

Hard to read sarcasm online. I was talking about the engine that comes with the car being the stereo.

HiFI Option another perspective

I ordered the "Upgraded HiFi Option", and here is why, the 458 is so versatile that you can drive it at the track and the car will give you the time of your life or you turn around and you can drive it long distances and it can coddle you with luxury features that rival the best out there, including good sound reproduction. The 458 is truly the car for all occasions, or at least most occasions. There is a reason many reviewers have called the 458 not only the best Ferrari, but the best car out there.

Specifically, I got the HiFi Option because of the electrostatic panel speakers behind the seat. Ferrari is the first to offer factory installed electrostats and the deck and amp they installed plays DVD Audio and DVD Video in multi-channel format.

All my home systems are electrostats and multi-channel, so I already had a large library of DVDa music and DVD Video Music discs for the 458. Along with enhanced CD formats and well mastered CDs. For me and this may be just me, but I drive my 458 as much as I can, over 4,000 miles in less than a year, all kinds of trips, long and short I listen to music about half the time and that is in a northern clime, so the windows are up the car is in something other than Race mode and it is quiet as my Lexus, so the sound reproduction is very good. When you mix the sound of good music with the feelings you get from driving the 458, it can literally touch your soul.

As for cost, actually 5 Grand for multi-channel amp, electrostats and carbon fiber woofers is not overly priced when compared to an in home MCH system. You can barely get a decent in home high-end universal player for 5 grand and as many know, you can't get large electrostats for even half that.

Basicly, if you like to listen to music when you are on longer runs at legal speed limits, which is something I do quite often then it is worth it to me. Or if you like to listen to hires music in the car, then it is totally worth it IMO. However, Electrostats are an acquired taste you either love that sound or don't.

Also consider that if you are listening to compressed music via the iPod connection then it probably is not worth it to get the electrostats and multi-channel gear, you really can't take full advantage of it with compressed music, so why bother.

If on the other hand you listen to enhanced CD formats like SHM or just have well mastered CDs and are open to HiRes stuff then again it is worth it IMO. But then maybe that is just me

Again change any of the above reasons, and the HiFi upgrade may not be worth it to you. But just to tell the other side of the story, I demoed the 458 HiFi system to two friends, before they placed thier 458 orders. Both were inclined to not get the HiFi option before the demo ride. But after they heard Depeche Mode Violater and DSOTM in DVDa, they both changed their minds and ordered the HiFi option.

You might try buying a HiRes DVDa and listening for yourself. Most Ferrari dealers have a used 458 in the showroom and there is a good chance they will have or soon will have one with a HiFi option that you can try for yourself. Then you will know whether you like Electrostats and HiRes. but be warned the expereince could ruin you for life, as you may have to replace all your home systems with electrostats
