Aventador by MVM Automotive Design - the STORY

Let's say you really like the looks of the Aventador LP720-4 but missed out on the production run of only 100 units each for the Coupé and the Roadster, while the prospect of paying a serious premium to acquire one today isn't really up your alley ... in that case MVM Automotive Design might offer just the right option for you.

MVM Automotive Design has been creating a very nice albeit aggressive looking aerodynamic kit for both the Aventador and the Aventador Roadster ... and you can't really miss the obvious here ... this kit took some serious inspiration from the LP720-4 evolution, but MVM went further with additional fins and best of it all ... a clear carbon fiber finish on these parts.

While on the factory original LP720-4 the front bumper and rear section are satin black (one owner of an LP720-4 Roadster had these parts painted in glossy black which looks really great) MVM Automotive Design went for an 'autoclave' carbon fiber production ... in fact they claim the design of these parts and the larger air intakes offer an increase of aerodynamic efficiency as high as 50% compared to the original Aventador.

The rear section of the MVM Aventador is totally different too, very open and finished in visible carbon fiber, this new design makes sure the engine cooling is much improved while a custom exhaust system will make the Bull roar even louder ... they even offer a 'Bi-Plane' rear wing for additional down force, which you might need when you read about their engine preparation.

By modifying the engine management software and installing a new exhaust system the power output grows to 754hp at 8,300 rpm with a torque output of 750 Nm at 6,000 rpm ... acceleration from standstill to 100Km/h takes 2.8 seconds while the top speed is 355 Km/h in this tune.

MVM Automotive Design claims to offer a twin turbocharger installation on the original V12 ... power output will grow from the standard 700hp (515 kW) up to a massive 1,600hp (1,176 kW), at the same time the torque grows so high it has been electronically limited at 1,200 Nm ... let's talk some more figures here: acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in only 2.1 seconds while a top speed in excess of 370 Km/h is listed.

In fact MVM Automotive Design is claiming their Aventador will be able to gain the title of 'Fastest Aventador in the world' when they are finished with their testing on the track ... how about a top speed of 420Km/h? On some of the photos the wheels shown remind us of the ones used on the Reventon, only this time they've grown quite a bit, at the front MVM will install 9.0x20 inch with 255/30ZR20 tires while the rear receives 13x21inch with 355/25ZR21 rubber ... note these wheels also feature carbon fiber insets to correspond with the aerodynamic parts.

The interior can be modified to the customer's taste in style with what Mansory has to offer, different leather, custom stitching, lots of clear carbon fiber ... just about everything is possible.

Although I always prefer OEM parts, this one looks great!!!

Also great to see one without an aftermarket spoiler on it...

THE MONTE CARLO WHISKY CONFERENCE 2014
Thursday 20th, Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of November

In the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, this year’s Monte Carlo Whisky Conference will discuss ‘The Flavor of Whisky.’ The conference is one of the highlights of the Scottish weekend hosted by La Maison D’Ecosse, whose mission is to facilitate the exchange of culture between Scotland and Monaco through its finest ambassador, namely whisky.

Under the chairmanship of Charles MacLean, who has been described by The Times as “Scotland’s leading whisky expert,” a panel of world authorities from the whisky industry will consider topics such as the contribution made by the raw materials from which whisky is made, the flavors developed during the production process and the flavors developed during maturation.

Keynote speakers will furthermore discuss current market trends in the whisky industry. Charles MacLean will present five exceptional whiskies to be tasted and examined, with reference to his new ‘Flavor Wheel,’ which will be launched during the conference. Additionally, a calendar of events will be organized by The Tasting Room Monte Caro, where it will be possible to taste and buy these exceptional whiskies, including “The Monaco Blend Private Stock.”

50 golden ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet members of the Monte Carlo Whisky Society, taste the rarest of whiskies, attend private parties as well as the St. Andrews Gala Banquet, where a team of Michelin chefs will prepare a sumptuous Scottish banquet, and enjoy a stay at the luxurious 5-star Hotel Hermitage. If last year’s weekend if any guide, it will prove to be one of the highlights of the Monegasque calendar.

Mercedes-Maybach S600

So what is the perfect car for getting shuttled around on the French Riviera?
And how do you top a car as impressive as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

The answers is the brand new Mercedes-Maybach S600. And YES thank you!!! Here everything is just a little bit more over the top, a little more special and a bit more extreme.

With all the Mercedes-Maybach has to offer, it puts other S-Class models to shame. The German automaker stresses that Maybach isn't simply an equipment line, but another sub-brand next to AMG. And just as AMG models dropped the "Benz" name, so too will Maybach models. The last cars to wear the Maybach badge never came close to reaching Daimler’s goal of 1000 units per year—approximately 3000 cars were made over a decade-long run—and no one was expecting a return of the badge. But return it has, as Mercedes - Maybach, which joins Mercedes-AMG as a subbrand of the three-pointed star. The previous Maybachs were barely exceptional at launch and hopelessly outdated by the time they were discontinued, but this new car will sit on the bleeding edge of technology. Credit the bones of the current S-class, which is perhaps the best-equipped and most forward-looking luxury car on the planet. And any update made to the S-class, be it a telematics, powertrain, or autonomous-driving option, can immediately be fitted to the Mercedes-Maybach as well.

Maybach influences are found everywhere, starting with the signature double-M Maybach Manufaktur logos displayed on the C-pillar on both sides of the sedan. Maybach lettering also sits opposite the S600 badge on the trunk, and up front, the familiar Mercedes grille boasts subtle yet noticeable changes. Look close and you'll notice the opening is larger with three fat chrome slats versus the four skinny ones on the regular S-Class, and hidden behind those are thin, vertical slats that further point to the sedan's exclusivity. Meanwhile, the chrome trim in the air intakes and lower bumper has also been doubled up in size, and the trim pieces on the Maybach S600's rear end have been, as well. There's more bling on the wheels, too, with exclusive 20-inch Maybach-like wheels that can be had instead of the thin-spoked wheels on the regular S-Class.

If the rear doors also look different, that's because they are. They've been shortened by 2.6 inches and stripped of the rear-quarter windows, which are now situated in the C-pillar. Although this helps further differentiate the styling, the main purpose for pushing them back was to provide more privacy for rear passengers. With the seats now located far back behind the door cutout, VIPs can hide more comfortably from the paparazzi. And by comfortable, we mean really comfortable. The Maybach's interior looks more like an extravagant living room than the inside of a car; it's got sumptuous materials everywhere you look. Copious amounts of wood and chrome trim pair nicely with all the Nappa leather found on the front and rear seats, dashboard, armrests, headliner, and door trim. The quilted pattern on the seats gives the interior an ultra-premium look, and seatbacks feature embossed Maybach crests. Further emphasizing the Maybach theme is an IWC analog clock, which features individually milled and applied numbers in fine metal.

At 5453 mm long, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 adds 200 mm to wheelbase of the standard long-wheelbase S-Class and 207mm to its overall length. In total it measures 186 mm longer than the long-wheelbase Audi A8, 241 mm longer than the long-wheelbase BMW 7 Series, 206 mm longer than the long-wheelbase Jaguar XJ and 54 mm longer than the Rolls-Royce Ghost. The interior offers 159mm more leg room than the long-wheelbase S-Class, while the rear backrests can recline back to 43.5 degrees – up from the normal 19 degrees. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is said to be the quietest car in the world in terms of road and wind noise, with a drag co-efficient of 0.26. Withstanding that feature, Mercedes has also introduced voice-amplification technology that allows front and rear seat occupants to converse without having to raise their voices.

Under the bonnet is a 6.0-litre V12 producing 530 HP / 390 kW of power and 830 Nm of torque from as low as 1900 rpm. The engine is tied to a seven-speed automatic transmission, with fuel consumption rated at 11.7L / 100km combined. There is also speculation the Maybach will be offered with a bi-turbo V8 engine producing 335 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque, bringing a fuel rating of just 8.9L / 100km combined.

VIPs who want to get the party started can sip some bubbly out of silver-plated champagne glasses while bumping their favorite party tunes on the Burmester sound system, which features 24 speakers and rotating tweeters. The tweeters rotate 360 degrees when the head unit is turned on, moving 10 millimeters toward passengers in a spiral motion. Mercedes says this movement aligns the tweeters to "give the optimum sound impression." The Maybach also comes with the S-Class' perfuming system, though it features a Mercedes-Maybach perfume that you won't smell in any other S-Class models. Called Agarwood, Mercedes says the exclusive scent "speaks of the centuries-old tradition of perfume." Even the bottle is adorned with Maybach lettering.

Just awesome.........
