Argentina Auto Blog: Entrevista a Horacio Pagani: "Los argentinos no respetamos la historia"
Here are main point for those who do not read Spanish, just translated to me by my girlfriend, she learns this amazing language
So main points about Pagani C9 by Horacio Pagani himself:
- Car is going to be launched this fall, towards the end of the year.
- Car will be brand new from the concept to the weight distribution, materials used and dynamic numbers. Inspiration came from modern jets. In total 3770 new parts are used in the C9.
- Engine is built specially for Pagani C9 by AMG: V12 bi-turbo, 6.0 litres, 700 hp, 1000 nm of torque.
- Car will feature brand new carbo-titanium chassis, new innovative suspension, special Pirelli tires made for this car. Car electronics is made by Bosch. C9 will meet all emission and safety standards, US included.
- Car will be built 40 cars per year for the whole world market.
- Estimated price tag is EUR 900.000,00 before taxes. The official price tag will be presented at unveiling event.
- Absolutely different car compared with Zonda, same family, but the different approach.

I am actually crying here
Well thanks a lot for the info as usual D55L, the rumours you posted some month ago turned out to be almost spot on. What do you think about the car?

I really do not know what to think - from one point of view it will be very light supercar with extensive use of a very innovative carbo-titanium, with amazing style and so on. From other side - I am really not sure about V12 bi-turbo AMG engine, it is rather old, not high-revving one and rather heavy. One more thing I am not sure about is price tag, I am not sure that increasing it all the time is a good job by Pagani, especially when competition is really going forward with expected launched from Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren. C9 will not have a short production cycle, it is car made for many years to come, so it must be brilliant to justify price and benchmark set by Zonda. I guess we just need to wait and see the final product and first road tests.
At least one thing we know for sure - this fall and beginning of 2011 will be great time when brand new astonishing supercars will be launched, just count - Pagani C9, Lamborghini Jota, Ferrari FX70. That will be extremely tough competition.

Yes, with a heavy low revving bi-turbo V12 I know I certainly would prefer the Lambo Jota/Urus or Ferrari 599 GTO/FX70. All of the former will still probably be cheaper than the C9 (maybe not the FX70). The only thing the Pagani has in its advantage is exclusivity.
I guess all the above mentioned competitors are probably gonna be built in more than 40 units a year, probably more like 350 units in total or something similar to the Enzo and SV.
Still for me, exclusivity alone doesn't justify the price difference, especially if the competition offer even more cutting-edge technology, passion and sound.
