Road Trip California - Advice
Hi all
I'll be coming over to California hopefully in September with the wife and driving it along PCH from North to South stopping in several locations. Was wondering if any of you locals could advise on must-see and must-do things around the areas where we'll be or if we're spending too much time or too little time in each location! The following are in order:
San Francisco 4 nights
Carmel 1 night
Santa Barbara 2 nights
Santa Monica 5 nights (due to its close proximity to LA.)
Thanks in advance!

while in SF, stay a night at napa.
on your drive down south, stop by half moon bay brewery in moss beach, ritz in half moon bay, montery 1 night, and carmel.
santa barbara is good for 1 night.
i would split time in LA between santa monica and a few other places like palo verde. traffic is bad there so why limit yourself to one place for a whole week?

I think your itinerary looks good. You might want to stop off in Solvang on your way down to Santa Barbara. It's a very small Danish town about 2 miles off the 101. A bit on the tourist side but great bakery's and beer. You only need to spend about an hour there so it wouldn't take up too much time.
Santa Monica is a good place to stay. As you said very central. It's near the SFV, Beverly Hills and not to far from the South Bay.
