Lotus To Stop Selling The Evora Stateside

Lotus has had its fair share of troubles over the past few years, and selling cars in the United States has been one of them. Currently the Evora as its only model available here, but the latest scoop from Car and Driver is its way out.

Lotus was granted a temporary exemption from fitting the latest-generation smart airbags to the Evora, but with that exemption set to expire at the end of the year, so does Lotus in the USA. The story goes on to add that Lotus seems to have no remedying this situation to allow it to continue selling the Evora in the United States.

After the Evora is gone from the US market. The British automakerLotus will only track versions of the Elise and Exige for sale here.

It's been said elsewhere the 2016 model will be U.S. compliant. So they're taking a year off to sell down some inventory.

Hope the new car is a bit different, I never really felt the Evora was all that interesting.
