I keep hearing grumblings that they aren't sure if the race will go on due to it being unsafe. Is Bahrain not particularly safe?

am at bahrain at the moment... its safe IMO.. there are somethings going on but usually limited to certain areas and villages that you can just avoid going to.

Dating scene in Saudi will be tough (Consider single women are rarely given visa and if they do get there not many palces you can meet them) aside from having a network in Aramco which is your best shot. add to that dating sites are banned in Saudi. chances to meet someone random is bahrain is higher.

ECB haven't looked into Bahrain at all really. Done my fair share of traveling so not too worried about it. Could I be more prepared? Yeah haha

Make sure you get a 4X4 Nissan Patrol or LandCruiser. Saudi Arabia has amazing offroad area's.

Also it's great in the winter if you like camping out in the desert.

You shouldn't be worried about visiting. Also don't be concerned about long distance communication here, you'll sort out your data plan with one of the telecom companies here in no time, they have pretty decent offers. Food is great in saudi. Public stransport is not an option I guess, so you would have to get a car if you're staying for long. And don't worry about fuel, its cheaper than water =).
