Ayrton Senna's McLaren Helmet Up For Auction

If you haven't seen the documentary Senna yet, then stop what you're doing right now, log off and go and watch it. For those of you who have, you'll understand what a moving piece it was. Now comes the chance to own some of that history.

Senna's full-face Shoei helmet is signed by the legendary driver and is expected to fetch between £42,000 and £50,000, though even some pieces certainly go through the roof if the right buyer is present.

The helmet is from Senna's world title-winning time at McLaren in 1993 and for any Senna or Macca fan it certainly would make for an interesting talking point is the home collection. It comes complete with a signed TAG/McLaren International certificate of authenticity.

The auction will be held at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry in the UK, on February 25. The 2012 Race Retro Classic Car Auction will be held by Silverstone Auctions, and would be worth a visit if you're in the region.
