Thanks Alex, I appreciate you mentioning that you've seen growth - that's something that I heavily demand of myself in everything. I feel like I have a lot of work to do yet. Mostly I need to feel 100% confident going into any situation that I can simply whip out the camera and instantly take the shot in my head, without thinking about it or fumbling through settings. That will come with more practice and familiarity with the equipment. Just like racing, when you instinctively know where to shift, where to brake, etc. I find myself taking a shot I think is great, and then realizing I left it on ISO-3200 or something stupid like that. I just gotta get myself a mental checklist that becomes automatic.
I approach anything I do seriously with the mind that I have to do it perfectly right away. If someone is paying me, then that's multiplied infinitely! I'm finally doing that Engagement photoshoot this weekend, and that will be a big test for me as far as dealing with people I don't really know personally and their expectations.
I'm posting pics up like this to hopefully get some real life feedback. I post a few things on photography forums as well, where no matter how good you think a shot is, you'll get some constructive feedback. And I love that. I want to be able to look at something and immediately know what's "technically" wrong with it. From there, artistically you'll always have people who like it or not.
Jason Tang and I text back and forth pretty often, and share pictures and ideas and info on equipment and stuff, and that's been a big help. I need to talk to you more about settings, why and how you shoot, stuff like that. I really love learning from people whose styles I admire.
Also, I need a D4 or two... working on that...
