Say it isn't so. No manual option for the New BMW M4?
Rumors are flying and we're hoping they are dead-wrong

Yesterday a rumor of another manual transmission death hit the web and this time the focus was the new BMW M4. The "buzz" was that the new M-car will be offered exclusively with a dual-clutch transmission, with no manual option available.

The gents over at Autoblog quoted a "well-placed source" who said the M4 will not be revealed at the LA Auto Show this November, (BMW will chose to debut the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January) and when the F82 M4 does arrive, it will have only a dual-clutch transmission (DCT) as standard equipment – yes no manual option.

But there is a bright side to all this: The Bimmer-obsessed fanatics over at Bimmerpost call bollocks to this latest rumor, submitting contrary evidence in the form of photos, videos, and more here.

Let's hope Bimmerpost is right!

even if it is true, they gotta keep up with the times. The manual is becoming extinct.

Chevy seems to be the only ones left giving us the option of manual

You make it sound like BMW needs to drop the manual just because everyone else is doing it.

I don't believe it. Test mules were spotted with both transmissions. Sure they could pull a Porsche and drop the manual, but I highly doubt it.

it would make no sense at all to sell the M5 with a Manual Gearbox and not offer it on the "lower" classed M3/M4.

There will be a Manual.

The only car maker offering manuals in the next 5 years are those that don't have dual clutch technology. It's a decision made based on economies of scale. Perhaps this is what will sell vipers and vettes in the future lol

Pretty sure Bimmerpost posted a video of a manual M4 being driven down a street.
