Spied Again With Updated details: The New BMW M3 Sedan
New details are starting to emerge or rather "leak out" about the 2014 BMW M3 as British car magazine Auto Express recently sat down for an interview with Dr Friedrich Nitschke, managing director of M GmbH. Dr. Nitschke was of course a bit reluctant to discuss specifics, he did note the next-generation M3 would have a "bigger focus on very low fuel consumption."
That's a tad vague, but the magazine says the car will feature a tri-turbocharged 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine with approximately 450 hp. Additionally, we can expect aggressive styling and a lightweight body that adopts carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components.
Below are a few new spy shot we grabbed during winter testing this morning. Stay tuned for more information as always!

I don't like what all these new fuel economy standards and such are doing to the development of new cars. More fuel economy is great but it shouldn't be a substantial design goal in the development of cars like the Porsche 911 and BMW M3... I guess we have 99%er regulations and the global warming farce to thank for that. Fuel economy is about tenth on the list of what's important to me when buying one of these cars...
In regards to the M3 - I have no doubt this car will be another huge success, but a 450hp 8-cyl engine design sounds much more appealing...

Apart from the turbocharging thing,
I find it kinda sad that they still won`t come up with some RS-like fender flares as seen on the 1er M...you really have to look twice to notice that this is an M3 mule when it drives by...
Understatement on the M5 is ok,..but the M3 could use a bit more "in your face" stuff imo

Boring. I feel like it'll go the same way the E60 M5 went with the F10 M5. I'm going to buy a used ZCP E90 M3 in the near future as I expect this generation of M3's to suck. I don't like them aesthetically (where's the power bulge on the hood ;( ) and it's not a NA V8 anymore.

"The new M5 won't have enough power, it should have 900,000 horsepower"
"Why does the new M5 have turbos, it should be NA"
"Why is the new M5 so large, it should be small and have 16 cubic acres of boot space"
"Why is new M3 turbobcharged, everything new is bad, things were much better before, get those kids off my lawn!"
