My bikes for my moods

Seems this particular forum has been idle for awhile ..

Thought I'd post my bikes

From top to bottom
My mountain road climber - '13 Colnago C59 Disc with Campy 11 SR EPS

For Tris and tours - '12 Litespeed Archon C1R with Campy 10 R

For road racing - '09 Colnago with '11 Campy 11 SR

Obviously the first three are carbon frames and a tad old school

Single track titanium Airbourne Lucky Strike with Shimano XT/XTR

I ride about 4500 miles a year and manage to squeeze in some races as well ...

Enjoy

I am looking to get a mountain bike which will be rode on the road majority of the time and when I can offroad. My boys are able to ride bikes now and would love to go out to some trails and bike paths with the whole family.

Willing to spend up to 3k at most, considering what I would be using it for.

Yesterday test drove the following and at the end of the day was very confused at what I should get.

BMC speed fox 29" it is $4500 on sale for $3k
Diamond Back hard tail 29" on sale for $850
Giant not sure of model one sale for $1100
Giant with very thin knobby tires for $1000
Giant Trance 2 with full susp on sale for $1800

The ones I bolded are the ones I liked and am considering. It feel like the BMC is going to give me the most value for the money but is still 1200 more than the next one I like and not sure I would feel or need all that for what I will be using it for.
I am very naive and new to this and would love some feedback, and if there are brands you recommend me check out instead.

Thanks

of the ones you listed I like the BMC .. my Airboune was $3k in 1996 .. almost 20 years later .. all I've really done is replace tires and tubes. I've had the opportunity to ride some of the newer mountain bikes and they are much more nimble

Man it's amazing. The only problem I have is that my upper body is bigger than what 3T designs their handle bars for. I am at max an still feel squished But its fast for sure.

I've been looking at picking up a road bike recently and have been leaving to Cervelo and Orbea. Any input? Noob to road bikes but I'm an avid mountain biker so it's not a completely new realm for me. Lovely bikes by the way.

Thanks,
Thor

I'm FINALLY able to get back on the bike this week after an insane 6months of 2 broken bones, wrist surgery and a dozen ct scans, mri & xrays from a simple broken ankel and shattered wrist. Just ordered a new set of gear since I've been riding liqui gas team colors on a non cannondale half of last year haha.
