There is no 991GT2 and there won't be one! This was officially confirmed by August Achleitner (model range CEO - Porsche). The reason is, that there is no room for a GT2 anymore. The current Turbo S and the upcoming GT3RS will be so fast, that it makes no sense to release a GT2. It won't be faster, because the 6-cylinder boxer-engine has come to it's limit and due to the 2 wheel drive (of a GT2), the grip has come to its limit too!

But there will be a new model range called the 988. It's gonna be a mid-engine (flat 8 cylinder) and it will look like this:

That model has its position between the 918 and the GT3RS. People call it the mini-918 already

It is really a shame that Porsche will stop the GT2 range. That car is really an excellent choice between a fast GT3 and a slower Carrera 4S. The above rendering looks really good.

Not yet. I've had a deposit on a slot for several months, but "orders" haven't opened up yet. I think this Fall will be the announcement.

in the uk they wont take official deposits until Porsche say they are going to build the car, our dealer has 9 letters of intent with maybe only 4/5 cars, if you take away the possible 918 customer cars, very little to go around!! I just hope Porsche look after there bread and butter customers!

Well, guys Im not sure the car will be built at all - I dont have any insider info on it - but if it was that close to be released and build dates will be in february 15--why havent we seen any spy shots from this car at all? - whereas we see numerous from 991 facelifts etc..if there would be such a car, Porsche would have announced it already to keep some of the lost customers (991 GT3 etc)..

Lets put it this way, if there will be no news until fall - I think the car will néver be build..maybe it only exists on the www but not in reality?

Anybody has some real spy shots somewhere?
