CGT 4 year service - a few pics

Major service completed, here are a couple of shots of it. For those of you who asked, there were only a few bolts and pieces left over but since the car ran and drove fine, the decision was taken to not bother figuring out where they went and just enjoy the added weight savings.

Hahaha so true. Good to see you take pride and care of your cars.

Sorry if you missed my smilie face, but I was kidding about there being any leftover parts. Take care.

I enjoy keeping it cherry, can't help it - that's probably just me being silly about wanting it to look like new. But it really is 4 years old with 4,500 miles on it.

Sorry, I definitely missed the smilie. Glad to hear everything went back in its proper order! Keep enjoying your beautiful CGT!!!

In the UK the CGT's only came with a two year warranty and in order for Porsche to stand by their 'goodwill' for any defects (basically defects on non consumables) they insist you adhere to the service schedule. We also have only one approved service centre for the CGT in the UK at Porsche Cars in Reading.
This requires that every 4 years/30,000 miles the engine is removed in order for the valve clearances to be checked (incidentally out of the 55 or so CGT's in the UK none have required any adjustment to be made).
Mine went in for this service last November as it's a September 2004 car, they did the service including replacing the two poly belts, replaced all three front radiators (under goodwill) and the windscreen (on my insurance). The invoice came to £3857 including Tax.
The three services in between run to approx. £1500 each so if you extrapolate the cost it's really very modest considering the car's performance and complexity. That included collection and delivery in a covered truck 100 miles each way. I had a problem with the low coolant warning coming on after a trackday last Saturday, they collected the car on Wednesday (again in a covered truck) and are bringing it back tomorrow after replacing the header tank cap and pressure testing the system.
All at no cost - that's service for you!
