Post Now your kids can drive in style as well...

Children\'s Cars | Harrington Group

I think this is awesome. Can you imagine your kids in one of these? Heck, I'd get one for myself! It looks like so much fun.

From Autoblog:
"Want your little car nut to stand out from the neighborhood pack of wheeled terrors? Go for one of these fantastic looking half-scale classics from the Vietnam-headquartered Harrington Group, and wave goodbye to mediocre renditions of roadgoing vehicles as little Bobby (or Bobbie) cruises in style. These replicas use composite for both the body and chassis, and the detailing is good enough that they look convincingly like the real thing. Until, that is, someone steps into the picture and you get a scale reference. The company claims to have distributors in the U.S. and U.K., as well as Canada and the Netherlands.

A range of gasoline engines brings real internal combustion thunder and the sweet smell of exhaust to the party. Engines start at 50cc and can go all the way up to a terrifyingly irresponsible racing kart unit. Automatic and manual transmissions are available and there is enough room for adults to ride along with their six-year-old and up progeny. Seats and pedals adjust, too, so when Junior is asleep, you can sneak out for a spin without feeling like a circus bear riding a tricycle.

Interestingly, Harrington Group also makes restoration products for real classic cars, including stainless steel reproduction bumpers and interiors for the Volkswagen Beetle, Citroen 2CV and BMW Isetta.

Fisher Price's Power Wheels are extravagant enough that there's a healthy trade in used battery-powered backyard buggies. Harrington has yet to respond to an Autoblog request for pricing information, but these cars are likely to be significantly north of the $250-$400 you'll spend on a tricked out Power Wheels at the local big box store. Available models are Porsche 356, Mercedes-Benz 300SL, Jaguar E-Type, Willys Jeep, and Bugatti T35, along with mini scooters that ape Vespas of yore. Put one of these under the tree this (fast approaching) Christmas, and you'll see what the face of bliss looks like."

Just got an e-mail reply from them. Below is the pricing. + $345 shipping.

Our cars come fully assembled, they are not available as kits.

They are suitable for adults as well as children.

They are NOT street legal!

Bugatti T35A

The Bugatti is available in electric only. We use 2x electric motorbike 36v brushless hub motors in the rear wheels. The top speed is 14mph.The cars drive in both forward and reverse and has rear brakes operated by the hand lever on the right hand side. The cars have horn and key switch as standard, cars can also be ordered with working headlights and fenders. The foot pedal in these models is adjustable, realistically only children can fit in the cockpit. Ages from 4 yrs to around 12 years old. However, we do also offer an option, with a removable rear seat, and flip out foot pegs (either side and under the floor) so dad can sit on too, and teach junior to drive. Drive time per battery charge is aprox 1hr 40 minutes. Recharge in 1 hour.

Porsche 356, Mercedes 300sl and Jaguar E-type

These cars are quite a bit larger than the Bugatti. Adults of average height can drive them.

The Porsche has the largest cockpit, and can in fact fit a medium adult and a small child at the same time (at a squeeze).

An adult can fit into the Mercedes and Jaguar but it is a little cramped to say the least.

For these 3 models we offer 2 different variants - petrol and electric.

The petrol cars have a rear mounted 110cc 4 stroke quad bike engine. The gearbox is a semi automatic (clutchless gearchange). The cars have 3 forward gears and reverse, by a left mounted gearchange. The cars have twin rear hydraulic disk brakes. They come as standard with working lights, indicators (flashers), horn, and electric start. They are fast, with a maximum speed of an exhilarating 43mph (69kmh). However speed can be limited by only allowing the use of 1 forward gear. The petrol cars do not have suspension, they are basically a very pretty (and heavy) go kart. The seat is adjustable, the pedals fixed.

The electric cars are the slower option. Like the Bugatti, the cars use 2x electric motorbike 36v brushless hub motors in the rear wheels. The top speed is 14mph.The cars drive in both forward and reverse and have rear drum brakes operated by foot pedal. The cars have working lights, horn and indicators. With these models, the electric versions have full independent suspension. Drive time per battery charge is approx 1hr 40 minutes. Recharge in 1 hour.

Willys Jeep

The Jeep is perhaps the most usable of the vehicles we produce! It comfortable seats 2 adults, has all round suspension, great ground clearance, and a tough steel chassis. It comes with a 110cc 4 stroke quad bike engine. The gearbox is a semi automatic (clutch-less gearchange). The cars have 3 forward gears and reverse. The Jeeps have twin rear hydraulic disk brakes. They come as standard with working lights, indicators (flashers), horn, and electric start. This would be the perfect island, resort, golf car! We can offer with different wheels/tyres and options such as racks if required.

About our cars

To date, we have produced just over 130 of our toy cars. We have never once advertised, as word of mouth has kept us busy for the last 8 years! These are incredibly labor intensive to produce- each car takes a little over 3 months to build from start to finish. (We can build a total of 6 cars concurrently in a 3.5 month period).

These toys are 100% serviceable, and virtually indestructible. With composite bodies and chassis, they will literally last for generations. All the mechanicals are over engineered to ensure durability. The bodies of the Porsche, Mercedes and Jaguar are literally clip on. So should they get damaged, a complete replacement body shell can be fitted in under 1 hour.

Its important to understand the ethos of these toys, and what we have tried to achieve by producing them.Producing toys is NOT our main business. We predominantly produce spare parts for classic cars and restore classic cars and classic scooters.

One of the reasons we started this project was to train our staff how to produce vehicles as we plan to build specialist electric and hybrid (full sized!) road vehicles. We are currently in the prototype stages of 2 different models and hope to launch these next year.

The second reason was disappointment. A number of years ago, I purchased my young nephew an expensive(ish) luxury ride on toy. I was appalled as to how bad it was in reality. I knew I could do better, and these cars are the end results.

In stock

At the moment we have available a gunmetal grey petrol Porsche, a black petrol Porsche and a red electric Jaguar.
These are available for sale right now. We have not trimmed or fitted the interiors yet, as the colours may be chosen by the customer.
