Palm Beach Driving Club Hosts Chase Race
The Palm Beach Driving Club put a little competition into the regular Wednesday night lapping sessions, hosting a “Chase Race.” Participants went through a qualifying session to determine the starting positions for the “Chase Race.”
Joe Lubeck, a founding member of the PBDC and partial owner of Palm Beach International Raceway won the qualifying race but it was Mike Brennan who took the top honors as the first “Chase Race” winner.
Chris Boy finished second with Hannah Johnson taking third place.
“I think the ‘Chase Race’ concept went over well with the members,” said PBDC General Manager Ken Fengler. “I think everyone had a good time and it was good to put competition into the session.”
Other Club Session News
Adam Berlin and the all-electric Tesla sports car made an appearance at the Palm Beach Driving Club session.
The Palm Beach Driving Club would also thank Ron Levinson, a representative for Lamborghini of Palm Beach for attending the session.

What is a chase race?
This race is intended to be open to most levels of experience and nearly all
cars. It is a great opportunity to participate in a racing environment with minimal
risk to yourself and your car, as this is not considered wheel to wheel racing.
Cars do not have to be “race prepared” with roll cages and 6 point safety harnesses.
Any closed wheel cars that meet the minimum requirements of a normal lapping
session are eligible, no open wheel formula cars. Minimum lap times may be required.
The premise is that a slower car will start a certain amount of time ahead of the
next fastest car so that it will take a certain number of laps for that car to catch
the one ahead of it; the same applies to the relation of the second slowest car to
the third slowest car and so on. In theory all cars should be catching the one ahead of it on the last lap.
You can win with any car, stock or modified. Driving skill and consistent lap times are the major factor in winning.
