The Ferrari 599 Alonso Edition

As Ferrari prepares its replacement to the 599GTB our sources tell us that one final swan song is headed down the pike dubbed the 599 Alonoso Edition, which we are told is most likely based on the ever amazing 599GTO. We have confirmed this with our sources close to Maranello and should have more details any day now.

The 599 to honor former F1 world champion (and current Ferrari F1 pilot) will be light in weight and limited in number. We are told only 40 examples will be produced. Production is set to begin in January of 2012.

Interesting to note that Michael Schumacher brought home five of his seven world titles driving for Ferrari and all he got was a Fiat named after him, my how times have changed!

where did you hear about this?? I only know he has a 458 but I never heard about the 599 Alonso Edition

 

Is it because of Vettel has his own edition of an Infinity?

It is very likely that there will be very limited edition of 599, at least my contact mentioned such possibility.

But with all that said 599 replacement will be launched without any delays in 2012. Car ir ready and some have already seen it btw. I thought my contact joked, but now I have just read the confirmation in this thread from f-chat mentioned by OP. This means its really true.

Yes, last car was delivered this month or so. They are building last Apertas though.

 

I'm eating my own words, this is true. It will be a light weight version, how light, idk. Production will begin in January.

 

Sounds interesting, but talk about squeezing the final breath of life from the 599 line.
