2013 Volkswagen Golf R Detail

New client sought me out for getting his Golf R looking as it should, 2K or so on the odometer and the car needed some correction in spots but the finish over all was nice(Should be as it is new................. conventional wisdom would say) but that is not reality as dealerships are damaging cars more than ever.

As it came in.

As it was a warm day, I washed the car in the cool of the evening. Starting the decon step.

New cars do not need any decon.......................

As mentioned, the finish was good but there were some RIDS and defects like this.

The dealership which sold the car uses a automatic tunnel wash, here in concert with UV damage had the trim looking ugly.

Stripping away the dead dryness.

Clean trim on the left, dry on the right.

Super soft painted B Pillars were looking bad.

Checking correction with the LED, both sides would take hours to safely correct and finish down(62 microns in parts of the pillars!!!!!!).

Finally.........................

Tunnel washes are GREAT for the painted surfaces.

Tunnel wash scratch abatement.

Dirty wheels.

Clean wheels now ready for Opti-coat.

Hydrophobic properties of Opti-coat.

Since the wheels were off.......................doing what I do.

Porsche 960/961 - Likely Engines, Dream Engines

With the Porsche 960/961/Ferrari fighter still a ways out, I'm interested to see what fellow Teamspeeders think will be the likely powertrain it'll use, based on inside sources/gut feelings/etc. But I'm also interested in what you'd ideally like to see in the car, too.

For example: I think the most likely engine for the 960/961 will be the naturally-aspirated 4.6 liter V8 from the 918 Spyder. At 600 horses, it packs just the right amount of wallop for a super sports car; using it also would allow Porsche to amortize some of the costs of the 918 Spyder's engine. The Panamera Turbo S's engine would work, but since that would mean Porsche's $250,000+ super sports car is basically sharing an engine (plus or minus a couple turbos) with their $80,000 SUV, I think they'll aim for something a bit more special.

That said, I'd love to see Porsche whip up a custom flat-eight based on the 911's 9A1 architecture. Going off the basic displacement-per-liter stats of the 911s, a regular 960/961 with a flat-eight based on the 911 Carrera S's engine would make 533 horsepower; a flat-eight based on the new 911 GT3's motor would make 633 horsepower. A naturally-aspirated flat eight would not only give the car solid performance cred in the 458 Italia/MP4-12C class, it would also make the 960/961 unique, IMHO.

Also, while PDK seems pretty much a certainty and all-wheel-drive pretty likely, I'd rather see a seven-speed stick and rear-wheel-drive.

Complete package includes both seats, brackets & side rails, mounting hardware and set of new LONG factory Porsche belt recepticles.

Seats are in perfect condition with no wear or pilling; backs are perfect and scratch free. Drivers side bracket has a few marks where bolts are mounted. Overall condition 9.9/10

These are the correct seats for a 997 GT3 and much more comfortable than the GT2 sport buckets. These are the seats that came in the Euro cars. Perlon seats are lighter than leather and (main advantage) do NOT show bolster wear as do the leather seats.

Seats sell new (Suncoast discount price ) for $17,900

Selling for $8800 + shipping. Seats are in suburban Atlanta,Ga area.
Would love to sell to someone in SE (can deliver).

This is my brand new Lotus Exige S 260RGB Limited Final Edition N�089 of 200 worldwide. The car is arrived at home friday morning and of course, I immediately went to make some videos!
This particular one is powered by a 1.8 liter supercharged inline 4 that produces 260hp and thanks to its low weight (887kg) is able to go from 0 to 100km/h in 4 seconds!
It's also fitted with a cat-less Larini ClubSport exhaust system that does produce an awesome sound!!

The most famous of all Eleanor's fetches seven figures at auction

Sold last week at the Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis, this 1967 Ford Mustang was the automotive focal point of the 2000’s hit movie Gone in 60 seconds, and when the gavel hit this one was gone in a cool million. There were eleven Eleanor's created for the movie, but this was the famous Eleanor Mustang driven by Nicholas Cage in the films closing scenes.

Want one for yourself but don't care about it actually being from movie? Head over to classic restorations and I'm sure they would be happy to build one to your exact specs.

Here were the specs of this Eleanor according to the Mecum auction site:

Financing a high end car for the self employed?

Hi all,

I would like to start preparing for purchasing (financing) my first high end car in a few years and would like to make my application as strong as possible. Maybe it's strong already, but I have no idea how these things work for big time car purchases. I haven't spoken to my financial advisor yet for fear of him not understanding such a life long passion I've had in cars. Don't know if I'm posting in the correct forum but any advice is appreciated.

The car I have always set me sights on is a gt3, particularly a 991 if its a smash hit, so I'd be going through either PFS or some other bank.

I'm married well into my 30's and work as a solo health care practitioner. Net income after all business expenses last year before taxes is 180k. Year to date shows closer to 195k. There has been a steady increase, but I do not see it being considerably higher, as it is a small practice and I'm very happy with how things are. A good income, but don't know if it'll carry me. Wife is a stay at home mom.

Very strong point is that I killed off my student loans and finished paying off the practice and office building. Current debt is around 400 a month for a car lease. 2 other cars owner outright. No credit card debt or other debts.

Were about to take out a 480k loan for a home (first home purchase). Mortgage without taxes is about 2300ish. With taxes 3300ish. Credit score is around 800. Small mutual fund, some emergency savings, and a retirement account in place. I've made small contributions to my retirement, but now I can increase my contributions quite a bit now that I've cleared my education/business related loans. Will be starting a college fund for a newborn.

I flat out do not have the cash sacked away to buy this car in full. I probably never will as I plan on putting a lot in retirement and college funds. I'd really like to be able to finance the car over say a 5 or 6 year period, maybe putting like 20k or so down. I also realize cars depreciate and they're not the wisest investment, but I'm an enthusiast, and would not be purchasing for that reason. I hear a lot of people say that I'd you don't have the reserves handy to buy the car in cash, you're not a candidate. I have a hard time believing this as sole criteria.

Will a lender say he wants to purchase a car that's 2/3rds of his yearly income, is he nuts? Or will they look for a good established history/stable job, which I think I have. Do they use a particular formula for high end cars?I believe I can realistically finance the car without stretching myself thin. Our lives are pretty simple and do not include extravagant leisurely expenses. Biggest monthly expense is health ins.

I'm assuming a lender wants to see tax returns for the self employed. Any idea on how many for high end cars? Also, I do include additional deductions, such as our family's health insurance, retirement contributions, car lease, etc, which lowers my taxable income from what I stated above. I wonder if this will look badly.

Am I worrying too much or should I just go and do it when the time is right?

As of July, BMW Individual will be offering a range of new exterior colours for the BMW M5 (Pure Metal Silver, Pyrite Brown metallic, Frozen Blue metallic and further BMW Individual matt paintwork finishes), as well as exclusive leather shades (Cashmere Beige and Nutmeg). With the BMW Individual paintwork Pure Metal Silver, for example, the body takes on a deep, brilliant lustre. This unique metallic gleam is down to the combination of a special-effect pigment with a water-based paint system. The addition of ultra-thin aluminium flakes guarantees a uniform and gleaming surface. Depending on the angle of view, these flakes create a light-dark contrast and accentuate the surfaces of the body. This paintwork showcases the model�s lines and contours to even better effect and adds striking touches to the vehicle�s design.

The further extended range of features from BMW ConnectedDrive also ensures that the new BMW M5 is in pole position in its sector when it comes to intelligent connectivity. Innovative driver assistance systems and mobility services optimise safety and comfort while driving as well as the use of infotainment programmes. The new Driving Assistant system combines Lane Departure Warning with Collision Warning including braking function. Its camera, mounted in the windscreen area, registers vehicles and pedestrians and gives the driver visual and acoustic warning signals if a potential collision is detected. In critical situations, moderate hazard braking is actuated. The glare-free High Beam Assistant is now also optionally available for the BMW M5, while the Lane Change Warning system can now be used from a speed of 20 km/h (12.4 mph).

The new Online Entertainment option, meanwhile, makes for a particularly varied audio programme. It allows online access to a music database containing around 12 million tracks. 2014 Mercedes Benz S-Class Coup� Sotted Testing

Fresh on the heals of the all new S-Class reveal, our spies have spotted the upcoming S-Class coup� out and about in rainy Germany. Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to expand the range of its flagship series to include seven different models, so we expect our spies to be busy spotting standrad and AMG guised test mules over the next few months.

Expect all of the new S-Class underpinnings, engine options, all of the newly revealed techno-wizardry, and of course the new Magic Ride Control system to be in clouded in the new coup�.

We expect the 2 door S-Class to be offered with tarmac eating V8 and V12 power-plants, both in standard and AMG guise.

The new S-Class should make its world premiere next year.
