For the Love of the Audi R8 Spyder
Loud, powerful, beautiful, exotic… these are all adjectives that appropriately describe the new Audi R8 Spyder.
At its core beats a genuinely loud V10 engine, which produces 533 hp and clocks a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. It also possesses a top speed of 192 mph.
What makes the Audi R8 Spyder a true joy lies not only in its performance-oriented engine but also the ability for that engine to switch back and forth between everyday road car and absolute pavement-pounding and tarmac-annihilating monster. It’s also the uniquely-designed chassis, which comes in several pounds lighter than the previous model because it uses a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum. The use of these materials also makes it 55% stiffer than before, which only adds to the car’s agility and performance. The convertible is 110 pounds heavier than the coupe, because of the drop-top system, but the performance is not noticeably affected.
In the video below, Steve Sutcliffe from Auto Express offers up a modest five-minute review of the new R8 for you to enjoy. Let us know if you agree with his verdict.
