Drag Racing Tesla Model S P100D Takes on the World

It’s pretty obvious that the P100D is an incredibly quick car, even in stock form. In the video below, one owner wanted to show just how quick it was. He put his foot down at the drag strip and returned with a handful of victories under his belt. This car is allegedly driving the track on stock tires, and no performance modifications have been done to make it faster. Yet it runs 10.80 quarter-mile times in repeatable fashion. Every single time he runs the same time at about the same speed.

The Tesla first lines up against a Volkswagen Golf R. For most people that’s a reasonably quick car, and yet the Tesla trounces it by a wide margin. Next comes the Shelby GT500 with over 660-supercharged horsepower; it’s fast even by supercar standards. And the Tesla beats it — though to be fair, the Mustang driver doesn’t appear to know what he’s doing. Next up? A Lamborghini Huracan, possibly Lamborghini’s best car ever. Again the Tesla wins! That’s three 10.8s at 122 miles per hour. What does it take to win against this stock Tesla?

How about a tuned Nissan GT-R? Even then, the Tesla pulls with electric torque at the launch, and has legs on the GT-R at about half-track. That’s when the Nissan’s power really comes into play though, and it pulls out a 2-tenth lead at the line.

Good racing. More Tesla owners should bring their high-power electric cars out to the Saturday night drags, it’s highly entertaining.
